Seattle Jazz Film
Group
Welcome to the website for the Seattle Jazz
Film Group. We are a small group of dedicated individuals
whose sole purpose is to create a documentary to preserve
the oral histories and music of local jazz musicians.
For most people Seattle and jazz are an
unusual union. But the roots of jazz and the musicians who
came to this area run deep, ranging back to the teens and
twenties, and several talents that found themselves here at
the end of World War II. Many musicians got their start in
this city, musicians such as Quincy Jones and Ray Charles.
And many who came continue to call Seattle home.
Once we complete the documentary, we hope
to have it aired on local and national PBS stations, as well
as interested cable stations. We also plan to release the soundtrack on CD.
This is an exciting project and we welcome
you to look through our web site to get a taste of what
we're trying to do. If our documentary interests you, please
send us your ideas and suggestions. In addition, if you have
any fundraising experience or contacts, or wish to
contribute, you can contact us by email, phone, or mailing
address. (Click the
